The Office of Educator Effectiveness supports the vision and mission of the Berkeley County School District by supervising the evaluation processes for all instructional employees in the district. Student learning is supported by providing quality mentoring for all new teachers, professional development for new and experienced teachers, and formal and informal evaluation programs designed to enhance the skills of all instructional employees.

The Expanded Assisting, Developing, and Evaluating Professional Teaching (ADEPT) Model provides the structure for these programs.

In Berkeley County School District, staff evaluations are used to ensure effective teaching, promote continuous improvement, and identify areas of strength and growth. All certified teachers and special area educators are evaluated and assisted using the Expanded Assisting, Developing, and Evaluating Professional Teaching (ADEPT) Model. During their first year of teaching, induction contract teachers are provided comprehensive guidance and support through the Guiding, Inducting and Developing Educators (GUIDE) program. During the GUIDE year, teachers receive support from a school-based mentor, school administrators, and the staff of the Office of Educator Effectiveness.
